I fall asleep and snore during beauty treatments such as massages & facials. Should I be embarrasssed??

When I get beauty treatments done, I like to be relaxed. I don't plan to fall asleep but thats what happens. Take the other day, my roommates %26amp; I went for pedicures. I close my eyes and get relaxed (that's what I remember). They tell me once I fall asleep my mouth pops open %26amp; I start snoring really loud. (I am a mouth breather who snores). They say the serene peaceful environment has been invaded by a SNORING LOUD GROWLING BEAR!!! They say people laugh at me, get angry due to all the noise. I'm not trying to be insenstive, but I've paid my money, so what with the sound?? Do you agree?? Shouldn't I be left alone?

1. Have you ever seen someone sleep %26amp; snore during beauty treatments (patrons, massage therapists, etc.)

2. If a massage therapist, etc., did you finish the treatment or pretend you did?

3. What would your reaction to the snoring be? (patron, massage therapist?I fall asleep and snore during beauty treatments such as massages %26amp; facials. Should I be embarrasssed??
No you shouldn't feel embarrassed. This is expected and one of the best compliments. It means you trust your therapist, you are comfortable, you are relaxed and when you wake, you will be rejuvenated.

As a massage therapist I never quit a treatment because they fell asleep. It can be felt when they wake, they will feel off balance (one leg is more relaxed than the other, etc).

If someone began snoring, I would just smile. It's cute when you are a therapist, as opposed to being a wife trying to sleep next to a snorer. ;) Hope that helps.I fall asleep and snore during beauty treatments such as massages %26amp; facials. Should I be embarrasssed??
I think you should feel deeply sorry for the person massaging you. You should feeel extremely sorry and embarrassed.

I'm a beauty therapist and have just found out i'm pregnant. Should I perform aromatherapy massages/facials?

I have just found out that i'm pregnant - 7 weeks. The only problem is I am a beauty therapist and I perform aromatherapy massages and facials on clients every day. I know I shouldn't do massage on clients if they are pregnant so I was wondering how it affects me and for how long??? I can't seem to find information anywhere on the internet and when I asked my doctor they made out as if I should know.

Please help????!!?!!!!I'm a beauty therapist and have just found out i'm pregnant. Should I perform aromatherapy massages/facials?
This probably isn't an issue as long as you're comfortable. Just pay attention to your body. As far as the oils...they should form no threat to you or your baby.I'm a beauty therapist and have just found out i'm pregnant. Should I perform aromatherapy massages/facials?
You should not use aromatherapy oils whilst your pregnant, being a beauty therapist you should know that some oils can actually increase the cances of you micarrying i.e jasmine oil. and working with the oils you apsorb the oils you work with through your skin too.

You should be able to find good reference beauty therapy books on aromathrapy from your local library. Or refer back to your notes from collage.
I found this link for you to take a look at it sounds as if it will be ok to me but some oils may be to strong.I am not up on this medical so had to look for you sorry.congratulations by the way

Listen to Bambi. That's what i was going to say. You should know that they are certain oils you can't inhale while pregnant. Be careful AND tell your boss!

I am 6 weeks pregnant and a beauty therapist. Is it safe for me to continue giving full body massages?

yes, it's fineI am 6 weeks pregnant and a beauty therapist. Is it safe for me to continue giving full body massages?
yesI am 6 weeks pregnant and a beauty therapist. Is it safe for me to continue giving full body massages?
I would say yes as long as your are comfortable. My last massage was performed by a pregnant woman 7-months along.
yes i am a hair stylist, and i am still working, and i am 1 cm dilated, 70 percent effaced, and she has dropped this is my 2nd time doing this too. and speaking of.......lol, what is the part of your foot to massage to put you into labor????

Do you think opening a beauty business would work do people really want facials and massages?

who doesnt want facials and massages? The thing is, you need to be aware that some people dont want to spend thier money on facials and etc, since the price of everything is going up. Also, it depends on the area, are most of the poeple there well off or not.. How much are you willing to charge them.. and ofcourse, whats so special about your beauty buisness.. because where i live, there are a billion beauty buisnesses, but theyre all the same. Yours needs to have something unique to attract people.Do you think opening a beauty business would work do people really want facials and massages?
Yeah sure, but be careful, alot of people have less disposable income now. the first thing people cut back on is things like that.Do you think opening a beauty business would work do people really want facials and massages?
Yes, people are still getting facials and massage, but less these days with the economy in the state it's in.

If you have no experience in these fields, don't open a business. You will regret it...it's a very different area!! The woman who owns the spa where I work has no experience in massage, nails or estetics and it shows!
Heck yea people want it i know i could be sitting with my mom and she will say i really want to go get a massage and stuff like that! So yea people want it!
The thing about facials and massages is getting people to try them the first time. Once they do, many get hooked, but it really is hard getting people to make the initial splurge. I do have a freind who is an aesthetitician who does a nice business with both facials and massages, but she does it out of her home, so she has little overhead, and it took YEARS to build up her clientelle. The past year I've notice quite a few local day spas in my area have closed, but I'd suspect the market in my area is just oversaturated.

If you came up with a great marketing scheme and terrific advartising, both of which are expensive, you could get yourself a solid customer base, but you'd have to really come up with some clever ways of getting people to come tp you.

Beauty Therapists!! just wondering how many massages half hour and hour u have to give a day?

some days my boss makes me do about 6 hours massaging..im ****** from it! is there any law or limit?Beauty Therapists!! just wondering how many massages half hour and hour u have to give a day?
I hope you're licensed.

The AMTA defines ';full time'; as 17 - 22 hours of massage per week. If you're doing more, you can injure yourself.Beauty Therapists!! just wondering how many massages half hour and hour u have to give a day?
There's no legal limit. You'll have to talk to your boss about lowering your work load. If you are an employee as opposed to an independant contractor you may be required to get breaks, check with your state labor board. 6 Hours a day is not that manyunless you're working on big people or athletes, check your body mechanics, work smarter not harder. I do between 2 and 9 hours a day depending on the day 6 days a week.
. YOU make your own limit.

If you can't limit the number of rubs, limit the force so you won't be so tired.

Pace yourself.

Many of the large gym chains in London have got treatment centres like that available for men. You can get waxing, massages and relaxation treatments. They are used by a lot of men, not just women, and they welcome male customers. For many of these you do not even have to be a member - just phone their reception desk ..I am looking for a proper beauty centre for men in London, where to do things like body massage, any ideas?

Where would i look for massage therapist job vacancies? im not a beauty therapist?

If you are trained as a massage therapist (IHM and other forms) then the school you trained at would be the best place to start looking for the places jobs are advertised.

I imagine that there are specialist magazines and trade papers but since I don't know which country you are in, I can't suggest any suitable. Use your contacts (college, other therapist practices and also the Internet) to find out where openings are most likely to be advertised. Also be proactive - keep your CV/resume up to date and keep in touch with other people in your area - make sure they know you are looking for work, even if they have no openings available at the moment!

Another alternative is to set up in business privately, either in your own home or in other people's houses. Start with family and friends and ask them to recommend you. Have leaflets and cards printed. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising. Leafletting local offices can be productive, too. I had a facial massage in a beauty salon. Is there a way I can give myself one at home?

yes you can go to: http://books.google.comI had a facial massage in a beauty salon. Is there a way I can give myself one at home?
sure. you can use cucumber paste and dry it for 15 minutes. you will feel fresh. then, you can also apply curd and gram flour paste and wash it after 20 minutes. this will make you fairer. scrub your face with flour if you have oily skin, it will open the pores and oil will get lessened. papaya peel can make you feel fresh too. try turmuric powder as antiseptic. give this a try. you will like it for sure.I had a facial massage in a beauty salon. Is there a way I can give myself one at home?
its easy u can do it at home , just need a moisturiser, some rose watter, a scrub , an astringent , a face pack, steam and something to remove blackhead (cud be the black head removing strip)...
Incorrect technique can actualy break down collagen fibers in your skin. Instead of massaging your face, stick to using good products.
yeah its very simple keep your face moister at the time of facial because its a catalyst to take the reaction good and apply your sources
    yes you can do it

  • Would beauty salons/spas employ freelance massage therapists for 1-2days a week or r these jobs all fulltime?

(this question is particulary aimed at managers and supervisors of salons and spas)Would beauty salons/spas employ freelance massage therapists for 1-2days a week or r these jobs all fulltime?
I'm not a manager/ supervisor, but my friend works at a spa where she only works 3 days a week. I guess it just depends on the specific place.Would beauty salons/spas employ freelance massage therapists for 1-2days a week or r these jobs all fulltime?
they are full time but they wouldnt employ u coz they dont like u so go home
im not amanager but i think it all depends on where you look?
I know some do, specially if you are any good, the gym I go to does.
It is possible. Ask around, put in resumes and applications, it can never hurt. And once you do get your resume in, call the spa at least every other day. WHY? Because calling up and asking if they've heard anything from your application tells them you're interested. AND it also bugs the hell out of them and reminds them you're still here.

That's how I got a job once, that had orgionally been filled. I called several times a week until I was told that the posistioin was filled, BUT two months later when the person quit, I was called and asked if I was still interested. The person said I'd called so much that it was obvious I wanted the job.

Another lady I worked with was wanting to train to be a dental assistant. The dentist she applied to said she wasn't qualified, not trained, ect. or didn't need one at the moment. BUT, she called every single day. Soon, they gave her an interview just to shut her up. lol. But, it worked. He liked her enough to train her as a dental assistant.

My point is, that even if someone says ';no, they won't hire you'; sometimes once you get your foot in the door they find things about you they do like, like a good personality, and they keep you.

Massage Therapists vs Beauty Therapists, what's what?

I am a highly qualified therapist with certification in neuromuscular therapies, in the united states. my man is an aussie...so now we're here and i'm having trouble finding out what's what. so, question one. what the heck difference is there between a beauty therapist, massage therapist and remedial therapist. i've been told i'm an advanced remedial massage therapist. but i'm still confused about the other, because i've been told i can do that as well. what is it? and, if anyone knows, what associations and insurances and licensing do i need to have. i've been told, nothing, then told just insurance, and other things, and it has to be SOMETHING that i can do, i want to have all possible. please help.Massage Therapists vs Beauty Therapists, what's what?
Welcome to Oz! I don't know where you are, but assuming Sydney!

Some places where you can get good information are:

    - Nature Care College who run all the courses (very reputable) and could advise you of what your qualifications mean here.

    - Try calling TAFE and speak to a lecturer from beauty or massage area. They are govt-run colleges that run courses with official Certificates and Diplomas. www.tafensw.edu.au

A beautician usually has done a variety of training in skin care and make-up. Often they have also done courses in massage. When I want a massage, I don't generally go to a beautician, I want the 'real deal' from someone who specailises in this area. I feel that beauticians often only know superficially about massage and can't feel what is wrong in the muscles.

A massage therapist is someone who has trained in massage and I would assume has one or more qualifications. I would be happy to see a massage therapist as an expert.

If you start your own massage business you would probably want liability insurance. Check out the info in the govt small business page below and speak to them if necessary.

If you go to work for someone else they will carry the insurance through their business.

Which business is better in goa??beauty saloon, massage centre, boutique ,coffeshop or bakery????
    i would say bakery
i would have to say bakery and beauty salon because if all your beauticians and barbers have high a high clientele list then business is going to be good /' and if its a bakery and you sell good stuff the word is going to get around and you are going to make plenty of money
Check in to govt. loans they will give you 150K to start a coffee establishment.

Little drive thru coffee/latte, espresso places. The ones I have seen where in Washington state. They had taken little huts and put them into parking lots, sharing the space with another land owner. Lower overhead.

These little buildings where no larger than the old Fotomat's.

One person could operate by themselves.

    Check out Free Govt Loans.

    Good luck.
    I guess Bakery
Hotel business, but does it suits your budget? All these things you can do in or with hotel. You can start from two or more rooms.
boutique selling ethnic stuff. coffee shop and bakery is also good
A bakery with a coffee shop due to the growing cosmopolitian culture
I would say a massage centre. In my town we have plenty of beauty salons and most people are loyal to their beauty salon and don't want to change to a new one. Bakery/coffee shops haven't done well here either and I don't know HOW many boutiques I've seen go under. A lot of people here WANT a massage centre type-place though so I'd go with that.
its a nice idea to open a bakery shop but it has to be a mix of both and if you have space than certainly you should go for a cafe with bakery and make sure it is fresh even if you loose money for a couple of months or even more.. but stick to quality and play with the price, all the best

I would like to know are the beauty therapist have to do body massage in Aus?

FF j, the last time there, a friend went to the beauty therapist, said was having feet done, and something else then part of te package his wife gave for his birthday, he was getting a therapeutic massage.

OK, sort of. Beauty and massage is a trade, not a career.

Out of high school, I went to school to get a trade, so I could get a job. Then I went to college at night and got a degree so I could get a career. Then when I graduated from college, I got a career.

Bottom line; career is better. Better hours, and pays better.I am giving up my career to go back to college and study a beauty and massage course, am I making the right de
No stranger can tell you what will make you happy and be best for your situation. Pray on it and discuss it with your spouse. If you're not married and have no kids, you're only affecting yourself.I am giving up my career to go back to college and study a beauty and massage course, am I making the right de
IF your career pays good and you like it and its something you do well stick with it. But if you are unhappy with your careerands you feel going back to college for beauty school and massage if thats what you truely want. But think of it this way if you throw away all that money for college and your unsatisfied then what can you do. You have to go back to your old careerand work your way up to your position all over again. In my opinion make a pro and con list then decide whats best, But if i were u i would stick with your career.

Why do people apply chocoloate ointment on their skin? They mainly do that in massage parlours or beauty shops.

I doubt it will be actual chocolate that they're putting on to your skin, are you sure it's not a cocoa bean extract or something similar?

Perhaps it's just scented to smell like chocolate, just like other ointments may be scented as strawberry/mint etc.Why do people apply chocoloate ointment on their skin? They mainly do that in massage parlours or beauty shops.

Friend and I wanting to start our own small beauty/massage parlour?

We are just about to start out HSC exams, and are considering what we want to do after school. I have always planned to go into acting, after completing a communications degree. We are now looking at starting our own small business to 'keep bread on the table', sort of a side job. We want to set up a beauty/massage parlour, which also sells home-made jewellry, and does meditation sessions, and also want to start breeding and selling diamond pythons. We want to know what would be involved in setting up a business like this, and where and how we would get the money and financial support etc.Friend and I wanting to start our own small beauty/massage parlour?
the best advice I can do for you is this, set up a sample market and find out what areas around you have the most buisness, be unique and fill a need (in buisness it is a niche) after you have found an area suitable get quotes on leasing an area, a buisness license can be quick and cheap... open a joint buisness account after you are licensed and rent a location (try doing yardsales and donation boxes at stores to earn money host a bikini carwash in loo of summer)remember that a sample market is cruscial to success look up wholesalers and beauty saloon suppliers for cheap products, try to host yoga sessions or massages for extra dough and also be willing to have buisness cards and advertisments made even when just generating income... really try to get a fan base built up and let the community buisnesses know you are planning on opening and offer their employees discounts.(for a limited time) good luck and just keep digging and feel free to ask for more helpFriend and I wanting to start our own small beauty/massage parlour?
If you and your friend are serious about starting your own business you may want to look at what is economical for you and how best to promote your business?

As previous answer it is always best to start with what is a niche market something that is unique, and traditional versus internet.

Why does the beauty therapist need to instruct the client on their positioning on the massage table?

Because if someone has not had a massage before, they might not know how to position themselves and might be too shy to ask. The therapist wants them in the correct position to give access. Why does the beauty therapist need to instruct the client on their positioning on the massage table?
    bacause they wanna know without asking and making a fool of themselves if the client is there for a massage or just fot the ';happy ending';

I was wondering if anyone with cancer has been helped in any way by massage or beauty therapy?

I am an esthetician and massage therapist and I was wondering how I could best care for my clients with cancerI was wondering if anyone with cancer has been helped in any way by massage or beauty therapy?
I am a cancer patient and I frequently get massages. Anything to make you feel better helps. My massage therapist has comped me a few massages, the last one shortly after my mom died and I had just had surgery and it was wonderful and kind.

Actually there is no restriction on massage on cancer patients, though that myth has been around. I asked my oncologist and he said it was perfectly fine and go for it. He is considering hiring a massage therapist for the chemo room at his practice. There are some minor precautions for certain breast cancer patients but we patients know who we are what they are and can tell you what our specific limitations are. I am getting acupuncture this week with the blessing of my doctor, with some limitations. If you have any concerns, have the client get an OK from her oncologist first. But I have known many cancer patients that have gotten massages while in treatment and none of us had any restrictions.

My hair stylist cut my hair short when it was about to come out due to chemo and she also helped me find a wig. I couldn't thank her enough.

The American Cancer Society has a program called Look Good Feel Better that teaches cancer patients how wear makeup, deal with hair loss, and other beauty issues. You could offer your services to ACS and become a Look Good Feel Better instructor. You could help a lot of people that way. It's a great program and many people (myself included) take advantage of it.

All these things matter a lot to those of us in treatment. Thank you for wanting to help your clients.I was wondering if anyone with cancer has been helped in any way by massage or beauty therapy?
You really need to take extra training to do massage on people with cancer. There are all sorts of medical complications and such. You have to know what you are doing. There are a few good books on it and you can take classes in it.

Basically it helps with the stress of it all and helps them to feel human after all of the dehumanizing treatments.
    It sounds wonderful.

When my son was in the hospital there was a doctor and team that came around and did some type of muscle relaxant massage. They knew exactly which muscles to massage to help with pain . . it worked for a while for my son. Unfortunately there did come a time when he just didn't want anyone to even touch him around his back. But at first it was so wonderful for him . . . definitely worthwhile for you to pursue this.

There is a speciality course you can take in Massage for oncology patients . . pediatric oncology as well will teach how to help these patients.
You might look into taking classes in working with patients with lymph edema which can be an uncomfortable side effect of cancer surgery.
I feel like anytime you make someone feel and look good, you help them!
